On Saturday 13th June, a few intrepid SUPpers set out from Stockport station to Buxton, en-route to New Mills. Despite heavy rain and forecasts of localised flooding, our spirits were not dampened (well maybe a little!). We headed to Buxton, picking up more players along the way. When we arrived in Buxton, the rain had miraculously stopped and did not reappear until we were on the train home.
From Buxton, we got the train to New Mills, playing and singing to the passengers on the way.
At New Mills we were shepherded to the carnival ground by the impeccably efficient Northe Ann, and shown to our designated playing area – within the beer tent run by the Howard Town Brewery from Glossop. I think Northe Ann knows us too well!
In between sampling the excellent ale, we entertained the carnival crowds in our own inimitable fashion.
New Mills Carnival is a wonderful little event, we had a brilliant time.
